My experiences with two very different births — a Cesarean and a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) — opened my eyes to the importance of informed choices during pregnancy and childbirth. What started as a personal journey soon became a deeper calling.
🌱 The Beginning of Magavu
I am Lakshmi, founder of “Magavu”, in the field of social work, I was exposed to see many children with health issues. Working with these children made my day meaningful and I believe I am making an impact in helping every child to grow, gain skills and work towards independence. But I have that constant feeling of what made them be born disabled. It made me think prevention can bring a change. To bring this change I decided to work in the field of pregnancy.
And also, I realised one thing, Initially the child's health was determined in the period of preconception, pregnancy, birth and Breastfeeding. So I decided to work on the root cause of the children's health.
Looking at the other Personal side of my life, I also faced many challenges and lack of knowledge during pregnancy, delivery and breastfeeding journey. Moreover during my first baby birth I underwent an unnecessary caesarean because of uninformed choices.
These two experiences made me realise “Prevention is Better than Cure”. That motivated me to initiate ‘MAGAVU’ which aims to empower and provide a mindful birth experience to all pregnant women. My ultimate aim of being a childbirth educator is to educate and empower women to make informed decisions on their pregnancy, birth and breast feeding to create a healthy generation.

Through research, learning, and lived experience, one truth became clear: The care, awareness, and choices made during preconception, pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding have a lasting impact on a child's health. In today's world, where lifestyles have changed and traditional knowledge is evolving, expecting parents need reliable, scientific, and compassionate guidance more than ever.
Magavu exists to bridge that gap.

An uninformed decision during her first birth led to a cesarean that could have been avoided with the right knowledge.

Challenges during breastfeeding highlighted just how little support was available for new mothers navigating this journey alone.
